I Am Tired: Dealing with Spiritual Exhaustion
I am tired. There is so much to do and so little time to do it. Is this how you feel? Even in your relationship with God, trying to progress can seem to become difficult. However, to escape the tiredness and weariness that comes with life, one must look to Christ.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal 6:9 (KJV)
Paul admonished the Galatians not to allow weariness to overtake them. Oftentimes one becomes tired and weary where there is no goal or prize in front of them. However, the Christian knows that God will remember all of his labors and toils; especially those endeavors we do in His name. We can become tired physically, but when a person becomes spiritually exhausted, the effects can be devastating on a person’s outlook and experience. Yet, trust God will take note and give you rest.
On this day, ask the Lord to give you peace, strength, and hope that can only come from Him. Your cry, then, will no longer be, “I Am Tired!”
A Qualified Christian: The Christian Example
It should be the desire of every Christian to be a useful and productive servant of the Lord; that is, a worthy Christian. On any job, qualified individuals are sought to fill positions. We know that anyone that is qualified makes necessary adjustments and work hard to obtain the necessary skills.
The same is true of the Christian. We have to be willing to adjust and work towards being a qualified and productive servant. Jesus’ words to the disciples reveal to us that He would have it no other way.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matt 5:13 (KJV)
The qualified Christian’s standard for thought, doctrine, and practice is the Word of God. The qualified Christian knows that life has to be governed by the eternal Word of God. Let this be your desire, hope, and plea that you will become and remain a qualified Christian.
Deliver Me from Me: Facing the Enemy of Self
It is interesting to note that much external opposition exists to frustrate our walk and growth in Christ. However, there is an enemy that we must all face; that is, the enemy of self. We may be able to escape people, circumstances, and situations, but where can you run from yourself. Every Christian has to come to a place where they ask God to deliver them from themselves.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Psalms 19:13 (KJV)
David prayed that God would keep him from personal sins and weaknesses; that the things that he may want to do would not have dominion over him. This is to be our prayer. Once we have received forgiveness and freedom in Christ, we are not to allow the desires of the flesh to rule us.
When we ask God to deliver us from ourselves, we set ourselves us for victory in every area of our lives. Let your prayer be this day, “Deliver Me from Me.”
Christ Is Coming: He Shall Return
Foundational to Christianity is the belief in the return of Jesus Christ. At His return, the words recorded in the book of Revelation will be realized that the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.
Though many challenge the reality of a 2nd Advent of Christ, the scriptures clearly attest of its truth. The disciples asked Jesus to tell them plainly, when He would return. Jesus would not give them a specific time or date.
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know when the time is. (Mark 13:32)
Instead of a time, He gave them signs. He told them that when they saw these signs, the coming of the Kingdom of God was nearby. Though the signs have always been present throughout the ages, it does not change the truth of His return. As we see events unfold, we can rest assured that these things are pointing to Christ’s return.
